The NY Times’ David Carr profiles the state of Wired Magazine.

“Wired has always been more than a magazine ? it’s a symbol, a culture, and a community rolled into one,” said (John) Heilemann, (a frequent contributor).”

No, Mr. Heilemann. Wired is NOT a symbol, culture OR community. It’s a very good magazine. Like so many others, they got in trouble thinking they were all those other things.
