I’ve avoided blogging about Tennessee state politics in the past and plan to in the future, however, a quote in today’s Tennessean begs for comment. Our state’s governor, who once declared the state had no fiscal problems and that he would never support an income tax, yesterday said our state is “facing the most serious problem since the War Between the States.”
I know that the governor did not grow up in Tennessee, but the least he could do is review some of its history since the “War.”
For instance, a couple of world wars, a depression or two, including the great one, and a few civil rights conflicts jump to mind. Oh, yea, and when they closed Opryland.
