Tennessee geography lesson: After spending most of this week in our nation’s northeast, I would like to clear up a universal confusion that people of that fine region share. So for clarification purposes, I would like to explain that Graceland is in Memphis. Also, Memphis and Nashville are not the same city nor are they even “twin cities” like Minneapolis and St. Paul. In fact, they are several hours apart by car. Elvis lived (and died) in Memphis (which, remember, is not the same town as Nashville). Elvis was in the music business and Nashville is known for its music business (which seems to confuse non-Southerners). Elvis recorded over 200 songs in Nashville, but he didn’t move Graceland to Nashville while doing so. One more time, just for the record, Graceland is still in Memphis and not in Nashville.
