OK that has got to be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of. You’re getting kids to sell stuff to improve the educational offerings of the school, and the prize is….allowing kids to opt out of some of the education???

It does remind me of my days as a school fund-drive salesperson. I was very bad at it in elementary school, selling Pancake Day tickets. By the way, it’s worth the 2 1/2 hour drive to Hardeman County in February. Best pancakes you’ll ever eat.

However, I won the Chicken Day ticket sales contest in junior high two years in a row, and I totally swept up in high school in our magazine subscription sales contest. But you know, in every case, I have no idea what the prize was. On Chicken Day tickets, I think our class got to have an ice cream party or something. And on magazine subscriptions, maybe all the winners got a party in the cafeteria?? I really can’t remember. I just remember being excited that I won.

I would say something here about the good old days but it would age me so I’ll refrain.
