Finally: While I am happy to see that Steve McNair is finally, finally, getting the national attention he deserves, like this piece from ESPN writer Kieran Darcy, I don’t quite understand the writer’s observation that there were more Peyton Manning jerseys in the stadium than McNair ones. If the implication is that Steve is not appreciated by Titans fans, nothing could be less true. Most Titans fans now believe he can walk on water…on turf toes. Many fans used to boo McNair even as he led the team to the Super Bowl. However, what they were booing was the play-calling strategy of then offensive coordinator Les Steckle. Now that McNair is allowed to be Air McNair once more, the fans are all cheers, at least for Steve.

Boffo performance: It’s great to see author Michael Perry (Mike Perry to those who knew him before the book deal) is getting the recognition his writing deserves. Mike, whose book, Population 485, is climbing the bestseller lists, was a hit on the December 8 episode of public radio’s What Do You Know? If you have Real Audio, you can find it archived here. Or, you can download it directly from this link. If you want to read some of Mike’s earlier work (the stuff he did for Hammock Publishing back when we could afford him) visit this search page and type “Perry” (w/out the quotation marks) in the box. Also, for a great Christmas present for those hard-to-buy-for friends, buy them an iPod, wait, no, I mean buy them a copy of Population 485 from the rexblog Amazon associate store.

Wow: The NY Times pointed me to this incredible site, a web version of Aspen, a multimedia magazine of the arts originally published from 1965 to 1971. Each issue of Aspen was delivered to subscribers in a box, which contained a variety of media: printed matter in different formats, phonograph recordings, and even a reel of Super-8 film.
