It’s a small world

It’s a small world after-all: If you are a real magazine wonk, you may be able to help me answer a question I have. Last week, I pointed to a Washington Post piece by Peter Carlson about a GQ magazine story that rips into Time Inc.’s John Huey. Highlighted in the GQ piece was a fued between Huey and Time Magazine & CNN pundit Margaret Carlson. Today, the NY Time’s David Carr reports that Margaret Carlson will be moving her column to GQ as her presence on the pages of Time are scaled back (by Huey). So, here’s my question. Is Peter Carlson related to Margaret Carlson?

Hmm interesting question. But don’t you think P. Carlson would have had to disclose a personal relationship with M. Carlson if he were writing about her? However, the New Yorker always has writers say something like “No relation to the author” so you don’t wonder. That is very helpful.

For what it’s worth here’s a bio of Margaret Carlson.

I thought about that, but in this case, Peter Carlson’s article did not mention Margaret Carlson directly (thus, no obvious reason to the reader for the ‘no relation’ disclosure), rather it is about an article in which Margaret Carlson played a prominent role.
