Girls just want to have

Girls just want to have fun: Here’s an article about Fierce, a multicultural “sisterhood” magazine published in Atlanta by a former writer for Essence and Heart & Soul turned academic turned magazine entrepreneur. According to the artice (I haven’t seen the magazine), the “scribes to the magazine discuss such issues as the sub-cultural tension between straight and lesbian women, the healing effects of yogurt for yeast infections, and what is proper dress for Muslim women.” In other words, this is not Revolve Magazine.

She adds that the phrase “too bold for boundaries” scrawled under the magazine’s title, underscores the need to eradicate societal conditions that make women question their worth if they don’t fit into a prescribed standard of beauty.

I promise, I don’t make this stuff up.
