Time trades informercials for testosterzine: Insomniacs (like me) know Time-Life for its late-night pitches for products like “Do-wop Gold Video Collection.” The recently-struggling direct marketing unit of Time Warner is being sold in order to “free up capital for new magazines,” according to the WSJ (temporary link). Apparently, the company needs money to launch the not-so-subtly titled weekly testoterzine, Nuts, in the UK next week (through IPC media). I think the title is an unfortunate one as it will soon become the haunting nickname of those who came up with the idea.
