Credit where credit is due: Buried in this NY Daily news gossip column is this absolute truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth:

asked Remnick why he thinks the weekly has finally turned a profit.
“The hiring of David Carey as publisher is probably the main factor in
making the magazine healthy again as a business.”

He said more stuff, but that’s all that matters. The magazine has always been great, but David has made it profitable.
