Word power: I keep powering up my vocabulary via the RSS feed of Dictionary.com’s word of the day.” For example, today I discovered a nugatory post is called a bagatelle. (Not to be confused with a post related to search, which is called a battelle.)

Why RSS, podcasts and blogs remind me of something:What Blogs, Podcasts, Feeds Mean to the Bottom Line” from eweek.com.

Quote:

The demographics of who’s using these new technologies paints a portrait that looks like that of the Internet in its early days, at least in terms of gender and income level. Those who regularly use RSS/XML feeds, podcasts and blogs are most likely to be what Jupiter calls “super Net vets,” or online users with more than 5 years of Internet tenure; are male, and have annual incomes of $75,000 or more.

(I almost didn’t post this due to my well-known disregard for statistics like these and those who perpetuate them. However, my point in doing so is this: Where we are today with “the subscribable web” is a trajectory, not a destination.)
