Nashville reponds

Nashville reponds: I just learned that an online effort to match Katrina evacuees in need of housing with those willing to house them, “The Open House Project,” was started by some folks in Nashville. The site, however, has listings of housing from all over the country.

    You’ve mentioned a lot of people helping out, but did you ever give Al Gore props for putting up tens of thousands of dollars of his own money for two charter jets to fly evacuees out of New Orleans?

    Yes, I mentioned what he did as soon as I heard about it on Sept. 6. I think what Al Gore did was great and believe that is just the type of person-to-person action that is a great model for the rest of us — however, obviously most of us can’t afford to charter planes, but on whatever level we can.
