Magazine 2.0: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean that 2.0 thing. It’s just that I’m so impressed with how the folks behind JPG Magazine are creating, printing and distributing (via on-demand printing) the magazine. When I blogged about it about a year ago, I was impressed. And now, with their fourth issue for sale, I’m still impressed. Although, I don’t necessarily view this as a business model where anyone is going to get rich (except, perhaps the on-demand printer), I do celebrate the way in which they’ve pioneered a way to publish a collaboratively produced, micro-niche magazine without having to take out a second mortgage and burn through multiple credit cards. However, come to think of it, if enough of these type of magazines are published (short run, narrow focus, premium priced, on-demand printing and fulfillment), I think you’d definitely have some sort of long-tail thingee that could be called 2.0 something or other.
