What’s going on? Is there something in the alignment of planets I’ve missed? Vanderbilt University (a couple blocks away from rexblog HQ) beat the University of Kentucky in basketball last night at Rupp Arena for the first time ever. Beating the University of Tennessee in football (anywhere) and Kentucky in basketball (anywhere, but especially in Lexington) in the same school year is a new and heady experience for Vanderbilt fans.

Per my evaluation today with some other Vandy fans, the moral value of the UT win is bigger, but the actual meaning of the KY win is much more signficant. We are a really good basketball team. While KY was a bit off their game last night (not even a Duke goes into Rupp and knocks off Kentucky), it took 40 minutes of solid basketball to beat them. We had it in us and we will continue to play well as the SEC season goes on.
