Lies, damn lies and sales statistics: The Wall Street Journal reports that all future editions of the mocumemoir “A Million Little Pieces” will include an apology letter from the author saying he’s sorry for making it all up. For me, however, the money quote in the story is buried near the end:
“Meanwhile, “A Million Little Pieces” continues to sell. There are now more than three million copies of the book in print. Demand is so strong that Anchor Books is going back to press immediately for 100,000 new paperbacks, and Doubleday plans to turn out an additional 3,500 hardcovers.
I’d call that, “apologizing all the way to the bank.”
