A few weeks ago, when I added the MyBlogLog feature to this blog (the service that allows me to display the photos of site visitors over in the right column), I mentioned that I am leary of anything that has the potential of displaying a graphic on this site without my ability to block it. “Eric” — the MySpace Tom of MyBlogLog (if you have to ask, it’s not funny) was nice enough to drop by that post and then e-mail me about my concern. He assured me that a blocking feature was in the works. Apparently, it is now available, as when I move my curser over a photo of a visitor, an “x” appears. Click the “x” and it’s bye-bye. (I’m not going to explain why this is an important feature as I don’t want to encourage the misuse of the service I envisioned some might try before this feature was added.) The feature hasn’t been mentioned yet on the MyBlogLog blog, so I guess it’s new. (Note: I won’t be removing the photo accompanying this post as it is Patrick, the rexblog’s director of hackogology.) (Note #2: Join the rexblog “community” if you’re registered on MyBlogLog — note: the ‘x’ feature works there, also.)

Last night, I ran into Folio: magazine publisher Tony Silber and started whining (again) that their new blog didn’t have an RSS feed. He said, “we’re adding one” and then, like magic, it appeared. Thanks, Tony. And I guess I should also thank the rexblog reader who decided to become the Folio: blog’s “exclusive sponsor.” (I’m a little confused about the exact URL of the Folio: blog, but here’s a link to its archive.) Also, Steve Ennen is blogging on the ABM’s blog about the meeting I’m attending. (So I don’t have to?) Actually, I’m sitting in the back of the room with Doug Shore being entertained by his quips.

My Treo 700p is, according to the Sprint people here in Chicago, “water damaged.” The phone is insured and a replacement is being shipped to Nashville. However, I’m depending on a very screwy phone that won’t allow me to use the keys and gets stuck on certain screens. The last thing I thought would work is the phone’s cellular broadband. However, via bluetooth, I just tried to connect to the Internet via the phone — and am posting this via that connection, so obviously it works. Amazing. So I’m thinking that while I can’t actually talk on the cell phone, I can use it to access the Internet and use Skype. I’m feeling Macgyveresque.

I’m at a conference and a bit offline, so I missed Ted Leonsis response to the Washington Post article and resulting blogospheric reaction. Ted answers: Am I Blogging Just to Raise My Google Rank?. Helping my Google ranking, he included a link to rexblog.
