Scare headline: “Terrorists use Google maps to hit UK troops”

While the headline writer didn’t read the story (the article is about “Google Earth,” not “Google Maps”), here’s the gist: “Terrorists attacking British bases in Basra are using aerial footage displayed by the Google Earth internet tool to pinpoint their attacks, say Army intelligence sources.”

Observation: Google Earth certainly makes it easy to see what the roofs of buildings look like, however, couldn’t this “intelligence” be gained just as easily obtained by an insurgent living in the neighborhood?
