Even the long term historical view doesn’t support the hysterics. Markets do go up and down, but the trend line is generally upward over time. Over the short term, yes, it’s a crater. I’m not trying to gloss over the economic crisis; we’ll muddle through that somehow. But what we’re seeing is a lot of irrational panic.
