Rex, in addition to being the manliest city, we're also in the top 10 unhappiest cities. But we ranked only 8th in this year's ranking, so this loss of local may give us a shot at No. 1 next year. Look for the AP story...

That's really sad, wow. Thanks for posting about it. What's tough is, there's probably a way for the paper (or hell, the league) to find a sponsor and send someone "on the road" with the team to cover the for the away games, or source hockey fans in various cities to be there to cover the games. There are darn sure enough bloggers and other strong writers out there to do it. People like Eric McErlain at AOL's Fanhouse (and most notably as the blogger at Off Wing Opinion) is the type of guy that should be reached out to in cases like this. I hope, rather than seeing coverage die for fans of the Preds, there's another solution.

Again, it's not the perfect solution, but you know as well as I do that when a lot of these types of things "dry up" from the "mainstream" media, we're all going to wonder what happened, and someone will need to step it up. Unfortunately, *this* is what has come of the "bloggers vs. journalists" discussion.

Rex, I couldn't agree more. It seems each year another industry blames technology or the Internet for the demise of their business model. They should just admit outright: "My business was the model, not the benefit." When any business concentrates on delivering a benefit rather than a product, they embrace innovation, and create the future rather than run from it. They can't blame customers for finding a cheaper or more efficient ways to receive the same benefit.
