  • Agreed that this prototype is shiny and cool but I don't understand how it can “fix” what's broken with the business model of very large mass market magazines (spoken as a recent refugee from the world of flailing, very large mass market magazines). Are the cost savings that dramatic? Does it woo back lots of advertisers somehow? I don't quite get it. It seems kind of like a cool concept car at auto shows in days of yore. Beautiful but unlikely to make any difference for years to come.

    And Manhattan Project??? It doesn't meet that metaphor in scale, cost or potential impact. Looks more like something a couple of folks with cranked out in a few weeks sitting at their iMacs with off-the-shelf software.
