Very true. If I purchase an iPad, I intend to use the keyboard dock at home. It’s not something I would lug about with me. I remember using a keyboard with my Palm Zire—twice? You had to stick the Palm Zire in a stand that had a mirror that refracted the IR beams down to the keyboard. It was very Rube Goldbergesque and terribly clever, but didn’t work very well.

I actually meant (w/ #6) that only losers would use the keyboard dock — in public. I base my opinion on using portable keyboard in the past with mobile devices. If you start adding stuff to the device, the whole reason it exists starts to fracture.

Hahaha! The keyboard dock was one of the selling factors for me. I’m not sold yet on the iPad virtual keyboard since I haven’t used it. The iPhone keyboard is chock full of comedy gold with autocorrection in play. It can never keep up with me. A physical keyboard via dock or bluetooth just might make the iPad usable for me, but then I want to write books on it.
