A few years ago, I video blogged a half-marathon from a participant’s perspective. But that is nothing even close to what NY Time’s illustrator Christoph Neimann did while participating in Sunday’s New York Marathon.
His “live-illustrating the New York City Marathon” is 45 sketches drawn and posted via his iPhone during the race. It is brilliant and hilarious and does something impossible: Makes it seem like running 26.2 miles can be fun (if you eat enough bananas). And such battery life!!!
I think the Pulitzer committee should award Neimann this year’s editorial cartooning award — for redefining what editorial cartooning can be.
