Red, white, blue on blue

I took this photo in March while in Fairhope, Ala. It was being flown proudly by the Fairhope Volunteer Fire Department. Long may she wave. And long may they (volunteer fire fighters and all first responders) be appreciated.

Thanks, Bo. My son is a volunteer fire fighter at the University of the South (Sewanee.edu), The department is comprised of community and student volunteers. It’s both an honor and a serious responsibility for a student to serve on it — and it’s a great tradition at the school that stretches back nearly a century. He was with me when I took this photo and I got to listen to an hour conversation as he struck up what turned out to be an hour-long conversation with the Fairhope fire fighter volunteers about their new pump truck and, well, from there, it got too technical for me to follow.
