A Memphis Commercial Appeal reporter writes a story about a local couple getting their home decorating ideas from HGTV. The story is then picked up by the Scripps Howard News Service. The paper, cable network and news service are all owned by E.W. Scripps, a questionably relevant detail not mentioned in the article. A coincidence? No way: Promotions for the Food Network and HGTV are seamlessly woven into all the Scripps newspapers and TV stations. While I’m sure this gives fits to those who get fits over these kinds of things, it seems pretty synergistically convergent to me.
