Gritty and Simple: The NY Times’ David Carr does a round-up of new developments in the women’s magazine arena. One article focuses on the “real life, real issues” approach of a new magazine next spring from Hearst and Disney, Lifetime Magazine (as in the TV network). The same “real women” approach is also being explored by Meredith’s Ladies Home Journal. (Can G+J be far behind in this gritty trend?)

To escape from all this reality, women can find magazines full of simplicity, as this story explores Real Simple, from Time Inc. and Chic Simple from Hearst.

I suggest all four of these magazines merge into one magazine called, Real Chic & Simple Lifetime.
