Aiding and editing the enemy

Aiding and editing the enemy: Missed this NYT article on Saturday (reg. required): Treasury Department Is Warning Publishers of the Perils of Criminal Editing of the Enemy.

“It has warned publishers they may face grave legal consequences for editing manuscripts from Iran and other disfavored nations, on the ground that such tinkering amounts to trading with the enemy.”

  1. Hm. I’ve been trading with Canadians lately, and I also have in my possession a manuscript praising the French contribution to the war (American Revolution, true, but let’s not quibble when national security, WMDs [Words of Mass Disinformation], and the fortunes of Halliburton are on the line!). Guess I’m fixin’ to get a visit from the FBI.

  2. Bill, are you sure you should engage in such faux perfidy? Officials from the Homeland Security Department or those ATS guys at the airport may not understand your jiggery-pokery.
