Marthette vultures update: Gee. It’s been over a month since I’ve blogged a story about wannabe Martha Stewarts. (Previous “Marthette vultures updates” can be found here and here and here and here and here and here and here.) I guess it was time for someone to bring the topic back to life. Therefore, here is today’s version, one from mediapost.com.
Katie Brown, host of A&E’s “All Year Round with Katie Brown,” has been mentioned as a possible contender, and her publicist confirmed that the host has “had conversations with several publishers” about launching a magazine. Any such plans are currently on hold, as Brown has recently given birth to a child. Chris Casson Madden, host of “Interiors by Design” on Home and Garden, is also considered a possible heir to the Stewart throne; however, Mark O’Connor, director of public relations at HGTV, said that none of HGTV’s properties are planning a magazine.
I can’t believe it. Why would HGTV hire Mark O’Connor, the world’s greatest fiddler, to be its director of public relations? Perhaps because he’s new to this cable-television publicity gig (I thought he was out promoting this remarkabe CD – p.s.: read the reviews), Mark can be forgiven for confusing the concept of employing a person with owning a piece of property.
