Memorial Gym Magic: Just
saw one of the most amazing basketball moments ever. While
(unfortunately) it’s a game in the NIT (“Not Invited Tournament”), a
full-court pass and lay-up with 6/10ths of a second left to break a tie and give Vanderbilt a win over Wichita State. Has to be #1
on Sports Center’s Plays of the Day tomorrow.
Update: My young colleague, Lena Basha, reports (see comments) she was at the game and almost passed out.
OK, don’t judge me, but tonight was my first vanderbilt basketball game at Memorial Gym (yes, I went there for four years and yes, student tickets are free. I asked you not to judge me). Anyway, I was courtside, sitting right in front of the vanderbilt bench and it was SO EXCITING THAT I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO PASS OUT! I may be hoarse tomorrow. GO VANDY!
It was .7 seconds, by the way… not a lot of time!
That’s great, Lena. You attend Vandy for 4 years and chose this as your first game. Here’s my suggestion: Never go back. You’ll never see anything like this again.
You’re probably right, because not only was the game awesome, I also had my first celebrity sighting ever. Vince Gill and Barry Booker (no, they weren’t sighted together) were sitting a few rows back. 🙂
Okay,Lena. How does someone who never attended a basketball game in her four years at Vandy even know who Barry Booker is?
