Amazon no Harry Potter party pooper for us

potterAmazon no Harry Potter party pooper for us: Around
my house, the release of a new Harry Potter book is not something we
gather around the mailbox to celebrate, so, despite my Amazon Prime
account, you can count me out on the company’s offer to deliver Harry
Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to U.S. customers on
Saturday, July 16 — the first day the book is available to the public
— for the same price as standard shipping. According to the WSJ (sub. required), the book will be delivered
via United Parcel Service Inc. and the U.S. Postal Service; the company
said it will refund customers in the continental U.S. who don’t receive
the book on time. As for me, as in the past, I’m sure the 14-year-old and I’ll be hanging out for a couple of hours before midnight at Davis Kidd with several hundred others. (He’s nostalgic, that way.)

However, next New Years Eve, I do plan on going to bed early and having
Amazon deliver the New Year sometime after 10 a.m. the next morning —
perhaps with a cup of coffee.
