Startup funding fun fact: Pandora.com‘s founder Tim Westergren is on a road trip that brought him through Nashville recently. The Tennessean has a story about it today. It contains a factoid that folks looking for VC funding should note:
“…two years ago, Westergren, along with his partners at the company’s headquarters in Oakland Calif., changed the focus to build Pandora and went scouring Silicon Valley for venture capital. “We pitched the company more than 300 times,” he said. One hang-up for many of the potential investors was the fact that, unlike a service such as Google — which automates its search process — Pandora relies heavily on sophisticated human intervention.
